Bhubaneswar: After providing essential commodities to the people at their doorstep in view of the lockdown imposed to curb the spread of novel coronavirus, the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) is now feeding stray animals in the city.
Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik had approved Rs 54 lakh for feeding stray animals in five municipal corporations and all 48 municipalities of the State during the ongoing lockdown.
The BMC has started serving cooked food to stray animals found in the city.
As per the civic body, more than 5 quintals of food have been cooked on Friday and distributed across all wards of the BMC area.
Several voluntary organizations, animal welfare groups and local bodies have also started feeding the stray animals in different parts of the State.
