Death Toll Rises to Seven In Jharsuguda Boat Tragedy

Jharsuguda: The death toll in the tragic boat accident in Jharsuguda has risen to seven with the recovery of six more dead bodies today morning. The search and rescue teams found six dead bodies including three minors and three women today morning from the Mahanadi River. One more person is said to be missing in the incident.

The boat tragedy had occurred yesterday evening near the Sarada Ghat of Jharsuguda on Mahanadi River. More than 50 persons were on the boat that was coming from the Chhattisgarh side to Odisha. The boat capsized in the middle of the river. Local people and fishermen rushed to the spot and rescued the people. All the people on the ill fated boat belonged to Chattisgarh’s Kharseni area.
