DGP, Senior Officers Visit Koraput, Malkangiri to Review Anti-Maoist Ops, Police Welfare

Bhubaneswar: Odisha Director General of Police (DGP) Abhay and other senior officers today visited Koraput and Malkangiri districts to review the anti-Maoist operations and welfare of police personnel in the wake of COVID-19 pandemic.

The senior police officers, including Director Intelligence RK Sharma, IGP Operations Amitabh Thakur and DIGP SIW Anirudh Kumar Singh reviewed the anti-Maoist operations, and law and order situation in both the districts.

They held discussions with senior police officials of Malkangiri and Koraput, including SP, KPT and BSF officers, and shared their inputs for further strengthening of anti-Maoist strategies in the region.

Apart from this, they also reviewed the steps taken to prevent Ganja cultivation and trafficking in the region.

During their one day visit, the officers also held elaborate discussion about welfare measures of the police personnel in the wake of COVID-19 pandemic.

The DGP and Director Intelligence had interacted with the police personnel, who tested positive for COVID-19 and joined the duty after recovery.

They lauded the dedication of the police personnel in the fight against COVID-19.

Notably, the southern districts of Koraput and Malkangiri have been witnessing considerably fall in Maoist activities with the acceleration of developmental works under the guidance of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik.
