Dhenkanal: A sarpanch in Odisha’s Dhenkanal district was arrested for allegedly embezzling development funds.
A Panchayat Executive Officer (PEO) was also placed under suspension in this connection.
As per reports, Bhagaban Sahoo, sarpanch of Bido Gram Panchayat in Dhenkanal district was held on the charge of embezzling government funds worth Rs 31 lakh sanctioned for various development projects.
The PEO identified as Sukant Nayak was suspended.
The action against the duo was taken following a complaint lodged by Odapada Block authorities, sources said.
The sarpanch was forwarded to the court.
