Bhubaneswar: Air India subsidiary Alliance Air on Friday commenced the direct flight service between Bhubaneswar and Varanasi, giving a major boost to air connectivity between the two cities.
The 9I 747 flight with 40 passengers took off at 11.50 am today from the Biju Patnaik International Airport (BPIA), said an airport official.
“The daily direct flight between the two destinations will reduce travel time making it convenient for passengers. All inclusive the one way fare between Bhubaneshwar Varanasi and Vice Versa starts at Rs 3470,” said the official.
Alliance Air has deployed 70-seater ATR 72 600 aircraft for this route.
The 9I 748 flight will depart from Varanasi at 2.30 pm and arrive at BPIA at 4.20 pm.
Meanwhile, the Jharsuguda-Varanasi flight under UDAN-III scheme which was scheduled today has been cancelled due to delay in administrative procedure.
