Balasore: In a major development, the Defense Research and Development Organisation today successfully test fired the Hypersonic Technology Demonstrator Vehicle (HSTD) from the launch pad no-4 of Integrated Test Range at Abdul Kalam island off Odisha coast near to Dhamra at 11.22AM.
The DRDO had made all the arrangements for the trial. It is India’s 1st test of Hypersonic Technology Demonstrator Vehicle. With scramjet engine it can cruise at a speed of Mach 6. The HSTD will have multiple applications like launch of low cost satellites and long range cruise missiles.
