DRDO To Test Prahaar Surface To Surface Missile Today From ITR Chandipur

Balasore: Defence Research and Development Organisation is all set to test the ambitious surface to surface missile Prahaar from the Integrated Test Range in Chandipur, Balasore district today. According to television reports, preparations are in full swing on the ground for the test of this indigenously developed missile.

The missile is expected to be test fired from the complex-III of the ITR. Senior scientists and officials are present at the site for the test and if the weather permits it will be tested by today afternoon. As part of precautionary measures, people in 7 kilometers range have been requested not to venture into the sea. More than 6000 people have also been shifted to safe shelters from the nearby villages.

Prahaar missile has a strike range of 150 kilometers and it is fuelled by solid propellants. The 7.32 meters long missile with a diameter of 420 mm weighs about 1.28 tons. It has a capacity to carry a payload of 200 kilograms.
