Berhampur: The effigy of disgraced Gopalpur MLA Pradeep Panigrahi was burnt today for his anti-people activities in Odisha’s Ganjam district.
The members of Ganjam unit of Biju Yuva Janata Dal (BYJD), the youth wing of Odisha’s ruling Biju Janata Dal (BJD), burnt effigy of the arrested MLA for his anti-people activities.
The BYJD workers raised the slogans like “Gali Gali Mein Shor Hai Pradeep Panigrahi Chor Hai… Pradeep Panigrahi down down” while burning the effigy of Pradeep Panigrahi, who was arrested by the Crime Branch of Odisha Police on job fraud charges.
The Police said that evidence has come to light that the sitting MLA collected money from people on behalf of his would be son-in-law Akash Kumar Pathak on the false promise of providing them jobs in Tata Company.
Panigrahi, who was expelled from the Biju Janata Dal for his anti-people activities, was arrested after being interrogated in a fraud case relating to illegal collection of money from unemployed youths in Ganjam district.
