Bhubaneswar: A coordination meeting of the State Level Enforcement Committee was held here on Wednesday for the ensuing general elections 2024.
The meeting was held under the chairmanship of Chief Secretary Pradeep Kumar Jena at Lok Seva Bhawan.
The members of the state-level committee, which has been constituted to ensure that the general elections are held in a peaceful manner and strict adherence to the model code of conduct, participated in the discussion on various issues.
The Chief Secretary emphasized on the need for investigations and raids in various systems to take strict action against the defaulters of the law.
The meeting was attended, among others, by Additional Chief Secretary Home, Additional Chief Secretary, Revenue & Disaster Management and Forest & Environment, Additional Chief Secretary, General Administration and Public Grievances, Principal Secretary, Excise, Principal Secretary, Commerce and Transport, Transport Commissioner, GST Commissioner, Director General of Police and Principal Chief Conservator of Forests and Chief of Forest Force, Odisha.
In the meeting, the Police Administration has so far held the law and order situation in the state, in the context of the peaceful conduct of the elections, infiltrators and extremists.
Information about the action taken by the police to deal with the activities was presented. In various criminal cases, the police provided information about the activities taken so far, seizure of arms, ammunition etc. since the announcement of elections, steps being taken in liquor and narcotic cases.
Police deployment in various districts, strict vigil at police check posts, excise check posts, forest department check posts, etc., infiltrators indulging in anti-social activities, illegal drug smuggling and illegal cash.
