False News Report Row: HiTech Medical Threaten to Take Legal Action Against Private News Channel

Bhubaneswar: A day after the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) issued a show-cause notice to the office bearers of a reputed News Channel Odisha Television (OTV) for alleged propagating false information, the Chief Executive Officer of Hitech medical college and hospital today refuted the news report aired by the news channel related to Covid-19 mismanagement.

Briefing the media, Susanta Acharya, CEO, Hitech medical college and hospital said, All the healthcare professionals including doctors and paramedics of all the private medicals are working round the clock for treatment of the patients risking their own life during Pandemic. However, a specific news channel OTV is airing false and fabricated news against the private medicals, he alleged.

He further condemned both the news report and tv channel and urged the government to take appropriate action against the Channel.

He further threatened to take legal action against the Channel.

Meanwhile, an official of the Odisha Television (OTV) has reportedly appeared before the capital police station in this case.

Earlier on Friday, The Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) has lodged a police complaint against a private television news channel for allegedly propagating false, unauthenticated and malicious information related to COVID-19.
