Fighting COVID-19: CS, 5T Secy Take Stock of Preparedness in Kandhamal District

CS, 5T Secy Urge District Admin to Take Care of Migrant Workers, Destitute People

Phulbani: With Odisha Government intensifying its fight against coronavirus, Chief Secretary Tripathy and 5T Secretary VK Pandian today took stock of preparedness in Kandhamal district to contain the spread of the deadly virus.

The senior officials, who reached here to review various steps taken by the district administration in response to the corona pandemic, visited the dedicated COVID-19 hospital at GNM Training Centre, Phulbani.

The 150-bedded is managed by Kalinga Institute of Medical Sciences (KIMS) and funded by Odisha Mining Corporation (OMC).

During their visit, the Chief Secretary and 5T Secretary reviewed various facilities available at the hospital, including isolation wards, ICU facility and availability of medicines.

They also discussed with district Collector Dr Brundha D about enforcement of lockdown and arrangements made for the migrant workers stranded in the district from other states.

They also urged the district administration to facilitate the agricultural activities including movement of agricultural produce, speedy implementation of MGNREGA and taking care of the destitute and helpless people in view of extension of COVID-19 lockdown.

Earlier today, they visited the COVID-19 hospitals in Balangir, Bargarh and Subarnapur districts.
