Fighting Insurgency: Odisha DGP Urges District Police and Central Troops to Work in Close Coordination

Bhubaneswar: Odisha Director General of Police, B K Sharma visited the Maoists affected districts of Malkangiri, Koraput and Kalahandi today.

DGP reviewed the Maoist activities of six districts including Koraput, Rayagada, Malakngiri, Nabarangpur, Nuapada, Kalahandi and the steps taken by security forces in combating the subversive activities.

He emphasised upon the need to restore normalcy in these districts and also stressed upon to create sense of security in the minds of people.

He asked the District Police and Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) to work in close coordination and unity to address the insurgency.

Sharma further urged the forces to ensure that the security atmosphere should be strengthened so that the developmental activities can take place smoothly in these Maoist affected region.

Lauding the combined efforts of the forces in improving the security of the region, he asked forces to consolidate upon the progress made and make further improvement so as to achieve more advancement in the coming days.

He also took their feedback regarding the needs and requirements of the forces and assured to address each one of them on priority basis. He wished them all success and assured full support in their endeavours in fighting this menace.
