Four Odisha Police Personnel Awarded Union Home Minister’s Medal for Excellence in Investigation

Bhubaneswar: Bringing laurels to the State, four police personnel of Odisha have been awarded the “Union Home Minister’s Medal for Excellence in Investigation” for the year 2021.

The four cops are DSP Debendra Kumar Mallick, Inspector Debendra Kumar Biswal, Inspector Trupti Ranjan Nayak and Inspector Srikanta Sahu.

DSP Debendra Kumar Mallick has been awarded for his exceptional investigation in a sensational case of rape and subsequent death of a 6 year old child in Salipur in which the accused has been punished with death penalty. He joined as SI of Police in the year 1999 and has rendered 22 years of service.
Inspector Debendra Kumar Biswal has been awarded for his exemplary investigation in detecting a blind case of beheaded dead body of a half naked woman in Bhubaneswar. He joined as SI of Police in the year 2008 and has rendered 13 years of dedicated service.
Inspector Trupti Ranjan Nayak has been awarded for meticulous investigation and conviction in 4 cases involving murder, rape, cruelty and dacoity in Kandhamal district. Similarly, Inspector Srikanta Sahu has been awarded for his meticulous investigation and conviction in 3 murder cases of Keonjhar. Both of them joined as SI of Police in the year 2010 and have rendered 10 years of dedicated service in Odisha Police.

All the awarders have used scientific aids and forensic tools during investigation which has helped in detection of important cases and earned laurels for Odisha Police.

The “Union Home Minister’s Medal for Excellence in Investigation” for the year 2021 have been awarded to 152 Police personnel across the country.

This medal was constituted in 2018, with the objective to promote high professional standards of investigation of crime and to recognize such Excellence in Investigation by investigating officers.
