Bhubaneswar: The Full Dress Rehearsal for the 74th Republic Day Parade was held today at the Mahatma Gandhi Marg in the State capital. The final Full Dress Rehearsal was conducted in the presence of Police DG Sunil Bansal and other senior officials. This year’s Republic Day Celebrations are being held without any restrictions that were imposed in the previous two years due to the Covid-19 pandemic. About fifty troupes and contingents are participating in the Parade this year. Police contingent, Armed Police, Commando teams, an invited Contingent of Andhra Pradesh Police and other civilian troupes including Scouts and Guides, Red Cross, NCC etc., participated in today’s Parade full rehearsals. The Odisha Skating Academy members and the daredevil team of bike riders will also perform skating and stunts during the Parade.
Cultural contingents will showcase the rich cultural heritage of the state in the form of Folk art, traditional instruments, tiger dance, bear dance who have also participated in the final rehearsals. The Bhubaneswar-Cuttack Commissionerate police has made foolproof security arrangements at the venue. The Mahatma Gandhi Marg will be under three-tier security arrangement. While, thirty platoons of police forces will be deployed in around the parade area, 200 select officers will be in charge of the security. Kesinga SDPO Yaspratap Shrimal will command the State Level Parade this year.
