Berhampur: With a view to curtail the incidents of social boycott and ostracism in the rural areas of Ganjam, the district administration has taken up massive awareness campaigns at various places.
As part of this, sensitization programs were organized in all the blocks of the district on Tuesday. Meetings were organized involving local villagers, Panchayatiraj Institution members, police personnel and officials to make aware the people about the ill effects of this practice.
Meetings were also organized by the administration among senior citizens and anganwadi karmis to discuss the issue at the village level and how to abolish this illegal practice. School students also organized placard rallies in the villages with awareness messages.
Chief Development Officer, Zilla Parishad Ganjam Keerthi Vasan V visited various places in the district and interacted with the villagers and on senior citizens and requested them to spread the word against social boycott.
