Berhampur: A police officer in Ganjam district has been arrested by the vigilance sleuths for allegedly taking bribe from a person to help him in a case registered against him.
Susanta Kumar Swain, Sub- Inspector in-charge, Bhejiput police outpost under Khalikote Police Station has been apprehended by Odisha Vigilance while demanding and accepting bribe Rs 15,000 from a complainant to help him in a case registered against him earlier in the Khalikote PS .
The entire bribe money has been seized from the exclusive possession of Swain.
Following trap, simultaneous house searches are being conducted at two locations of the police officer.
In this connection, a case was registered at Berhampur Vigilance PS.
Investigation is in progress against Swain, the vigilance stated.
