Balasore: India has carried out the first night trial of the nuclear-capable Agni-III surface-to-surface ballistic missile. The trial was carried out from a mobile launcher at the Integrated Test Range in Chandipur Odisha.
This is the first ever night trial of the missile which has a strike range of 3500 kilometers. Weighing around 50 tonnes, the length of Agni-III is 17 meters having a diameter of 2 meters and itcan carry war heads of 1.5 tonnes. The trial is being carried out by the Strategic Forces Command of the Indian Army in association with the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO). Inducted into the Indian armed forces in 2011, the Agni-III is the mainstay of Indian nuclear arsenal
