India Records Its Biggest Single Day Spike of 95,735 COVID-19 Cases, 1,172 Deaths, Tally Crosses 44 Lakh Mark

New Delhi: India recorded its biggest single day spike of 95,735 new cases and 1,172 deaths in the last 24 hours, taking Covid-19 tally over the 44-lakh mark on Thursday, informed the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.

The total number of coronavirus cases is 44,65,864 including 9,19,018 active cases, 34,71,784 cured/recovered/migrated and 75,062 deaths, the Ministry added.

Maharashtra has reported 23,577 cases in 24 hours – the highest in the country.

Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Uttar Pradesh and Tamil Nadu are the other worst affected States.

In the last 24 hours, Andhra Pradesh recorded 10,418 cases, Karnataka 9,540 cases, Uttar Pradesh 6,568 cases and Tamil Nadu 5,584 cases.

The recovery rate in the country is 77.7 per cent and death rate stood at 1.6 per cent, as per Health Ministry.
