Bhubaneswar: The Infosys Development Centre Bhubaneswar has bagged the prestigious Odisha State Energy Conservation Award (OSECA) for the 5th time in a row.
The award was given to Infosys at a function on Energy Conservation Day on December 14 by the Odisha Energy Department at Jayadev Bhawan here for taking effective initiatives to conserve energy.
As an organization, Infosys has made outstanding contributions in the area of energy efficiency. In October, the Bhubaneswar Software Technology Park of India (STPI) campus was declared the Leader in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) under the Green Building Rating System. The LEED Platinum building is recognized by Indian Green Building Council (IGBC) and this certification is awarded to highly energy efficient buildings.
Infosys constructed these buildings with a holistic approach to sustainability, concentrating on areas such as water efficiency, rainwater harvesting, energy efficiency, better indoor air quality, and efficient HVAC (heating, ventilation, and air-conditioning) designs.
The Odisha State Energy Conservation Award was launched in 2015 to create awareness among the IT Industries, Commercial buildings, Hospitals, Educational Institutions, Hotels, MSMEs, Power Plants (CPPs and IPPs), Grid Interactive Domestic Consumers for energy conservation on significance of energy conservation and energy efficiency and best practices.
