Kandhamal: With the second wave of the Covid-19 pandemic slowly spreading to the interior areas of the state, district administrations have speeded up their efforts to break the chain and stop the spread of the dangerous disease. As part of its efforts to strictly enforce the Covid-19 Guidelines, the Kandhamal District administration has undertaken a massive enforcement drive. Led by Collector Dr Brunda D, district administration officials are leaving no stone unturned to maintain the protocols and keep people safe during this period of crisis.
As part of the efforts, Collector Dr Brunda D has instructed all her officials to swiftly act and strictly enforce the guidelines. No leniency should be shown to people who disobey the norms. The Collector has also been seen on the Ground supervising the enforcement work by the Police officials. She, along with Superintendent of Police Vineet Agarwal is leading the fight against the viral disease. Joint visits of the Collector and the SP have been undertaken in Phulbani town market areas to check the ground reality and alert the people to adhere to the actions. While the police administration has been keeping a strict vigil in the border areas of the district, all administration has given instructions to the health department to check all the people coming out of the state.
While enforcement during normal times has been speeded up, during weekends and evening the police is getting more stricter. Mobile squads are checking all the market areas and people who do not obey the rules are being booked.
Speaking to thenewsroom.co.in, Collector Dr Brunda D has said that “though we have not seen a major spike in the number of Covid infections, we are not leaving anything to chance. We are actively implementing the enforcement drive and I have instructed the staff to enforce the guidelines properly and take necessary action.”
Kandhamal district has reported 6184 conformed Covid-19 cases till date, most of which are from the first wave of the pandemic. While the district reported 23 new cases today, the number of active cases stands at 163. Kandhamal Police, in its enforcement drive has been sealing shops and establishments which are violating the guidelines. In the last 24 hours, 131 persons have been fined for not wearing masks.
