New Delhi: In what could be of great relief in the fight against Coronavirus, four patients who were treated with the plasma therapy in Delhi have shown significant recovery. The trials involving Plasma infusion on four Covid-19 patients in Delhi have given positive results and the Delhi Government is going to have more trials in the coming days.

Speaking to media persons in a press conference, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said “In the last few days, we have tried plasma therapy on four patients at Lok Nayak Jai Prakash Narayan Hospital. Till now the results are encouraging,”. He was accompanied by SK Sarin, Director, Institute of Liver and Biliary Science.

The plasma therapy involves transfusion of plasma taken from a recovered coronavirus patient to a critical patient. The antibodies present in the plasma of the recovered patients will help the critical patient recover.

According to Dr Sarin, “We are happy with the positive results in the four patients. Blood and plasma is ready for two-three other patients that we have at LNJP hospital, we may give them the plasma therapy today,”.

The Delhi Chief Minister has appealed to people who have recovered from Covid-19 to come forward and donate plasma for serious patients.
