Berhampur: A lady forest guard in Odisha’s Ganjam district was caught red-handed while accepting a bribe on Wednesday.
Bishnu Priya Das, the forest guard of Pipalpanga village under Surada Range PS, Surada was caught by the officers of Vigilance Berhampur Division while receiving bribe of Rs 10,000 from Gangana Mandal of village Dhaugam, PS- Sorada through her office night watchman Ganesh Patra of village Pipalpanga for not forwarding him and his son Joseph Mandal, in a forest case.
The anti-corruption team was led by Santanu Kumar Padhi, Vigilance Additional Superintendent of Police at Berhampur Division.
The bribe amount was recovered and seized from the night watchman.
A case has been registered by the vigilance department. Further investigation is on.
