Lord Jagannath is the Soul of Odia Community: Naveen

Bhubaneswar: Lord Jagannath is the biggest identify and soul of Odia community. No one can detach Odia community from its soul ‘Maha Prabhu Jagannath’. The culture and tradition of Odisha is flourished with the blessings of Jagannath. For over centuries, Odias had made great sacrifices for the safety and security of the holy shrine, said Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik.

Addressing a special meeting at the Lok Seva Bhavan here today, Naveen said that the safety and security of Jagannath Temple is the responsibility of Odia community.

He said, “Terrorism is the biggest threat in the world. The terrorists have no religions. They are now targeting various religious institutions and shines. Hence it is highly essential to implement the recommendations on the safety and security of the Shree Mandir”.

Apparently referring to the ongoing demolition drive carried by the Puri district administration for the implementation of Justice B.P. Das Commission’s recommendations concerning to the safety and security of the 12th century shrine, the Chief Minister said that some families are likely to be affected by this drive. But, this sacrifice assumes greater significance for the cause of Jagannath Temple’s security.

The CM said, ‘It is necessary to keep Shree Mandir secured for our future generation. I hope you all extend cooperation considering it as service to Lord Jagannath”.

“Your sacrifice will be remembered ever by the Odia community,” said the Chief Minister.

Naveen also promised that the affected persons will be properly rehabilitated after sacrificing their shops and houses in the security zone.

The Odisha Government will also provide necessary supports for the restoration of the demolished Mutts coming under the security zone, the CM said.

All the Mutts in Puri city will be aided under the State Government’s “Abhada” Yojana for which Rs 100 crore has been allocated in the first phase, Naveen assured.

Naveen elaborated, ‘I had visited Puri in the aftermath of Fani in May. I was deeply saddened to see the damage at the pilgrim city. On that day, I had resolved to transform the pilgrim city into a World Heritage City’.

The State Government will soon to launch various infrastructure development projects in the city at an estimated cost of Rs 265 crore allocated earlier, he said.

The CM also approved a package of Rs 500 crore for the development of infrastructure, Multi Lane Roads, Flyovers , Parking, Rejuvenation of Musa River, rehabilitation of people affected by the Security Zone, Development of Various Matha’s.

The Chief Minister also sought cooperation of all as well as the blessings of Lord Jagannath for enriching honor and dignity of Puri Dham.
