Bhubaneswar: Senior Security Advisor to Ministry of Home Affairs K. Vijay Kumar along with DG, CRPF today visited Odisha to review the Left Wing Extremism (LWE) situation in the State.
He held a meeting with Odisha Director General of Police (DGP) Abhay, Director (Intelligence) RK Sharma and senior officers of State Police, BSF and CRPF.
Issues relating to the present LWE scenario in the State, progress made towards combating the menace, operational strategy, re-deployment of Central Armed Police Force (CAPFs), coordination, requirements etc. were discussed in the meeting.
It was emphasized to further intensify anti – Maoist operations in the core operational areas of CPI (Maoist) in the State with greater synergy with Central Armed Police Forces. It was also emphasized to fast track the re-deployment of CAPFs in Kalahandi, Kandhamal and Nabarangpur districts.
It was also stressed upon to have coordination mechanism similar to one between Andhra and Odisha Police, which has been commended by the Union Government. The Senior Security Advisor assured full support of Govt. of India to the State in the fight against the LWE menace.
