Bhubaneswar: The controversial and disgraced Gopalpur MLA Pradeep Panigrahi has been sent to Jharpada Jail after the SDJM court here rejected his bail plea today.
The Economic Offenses Wing of the Crime Branch, which had earlier arrested Panigrahi in connection with a case registered with the Cyber Police Station, produced him before the Bhubaneswar SDJM Court, and the court rejected his bail plea.
The court further remanded Pradeep to judicial custody for 14 days.
The Crime Branch has said in a release that Panigrahi has been arrested under Sections 419, 420, 467, 468, 469, 471, 120-B of the IPC and Section 66C/66D of IT Act as there is sufficient prima facie evidence against him in this case.
