Bhubaneswar: On Odisha Disaster Preparedness Day today, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik reaffirmed his commitment to build further resilience for people of Odisha to be able to stand up to challenges of nature.
The Chief Minister said that extreme weather hazards are increasing in frequency and ferocity every year.
Odisha has come long way since the tragic Super Cyclone of 1999, the CM wrote on his Twitter post.
“On Odisha Disaster Preparedness Day, pledge to build further resilience for people of Odisha to be able to stand up to challenges of nature”, Naveen tweeted.

Odisha Disaster Preparedness Day is observed every year on October 29 as the State was ravaged by the Super Cyclone killing at least 10,000 people in 1999.
Odisha, under the leadership of Naveen Patnaik, has since emerged as a pioneer in managing disasters, especially cyclones by reducing the human loss in calamities.
The State has set a global benchmark in handling disaster management and has been able to reduce economic losses caused due to natural calamities like cyclone and floods.
