It was a proud moment for Odisha’s ‘COVID Hero’ and mountaineer Nilachala Parida as Royal Challengers Bangalore’s Chris Morris donned a jersey with his name printed on it during the IPL match between RCB and SRH in Dubai on Monday.
“Nilachala Parida set up a vegetable shack during lockdown and offered free delivery to senior citizens. Saluting Nilachala’s spirit,I’ll be wearing a jersey dedicated to him and all such challengers,” said Morris on his Twitter handle.
Besides, Morris has also changed his Twitter profile name as Nilachala Parida.
Parida is a Bhubaneswar based Mountaineer. He stepped out to help the government in the fight against COVID-19. He had set up a vegetable shack during the lockdown and offered free home delivery to senior citizens.
To acknowledge the efforts and honour the sacrifices made by real challengers like Nilachala, RCB team proudly don a tribute jersey with the message “My Covid Heroes” both during training and matches for the entire tournament. The message will be displayed on the back of both the jerseys. RCB team will also be supporting GiveIndia Foundation by donating the proceeds from the auction of the jerseys that players wear during season’s first RCB match.
