Rourkela: With the biggest event in the history of field hockey going to happen in the next few weeks, the world’s most modern and largest stadium for Hockey is all set to be inaugurated tomorrow by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik.
Built inside the BPUT premises, the Birsa Munda International Hockey Stadium will be inaugurated tomorrow in Rourkela. Twenty of the FIH Hockey Men’s World Cup 2023 will be played at this iconic state of the art Hockey Stadium.
The Birsa Munda International Hockey Stadium, built over an area of 15 acres with a seating capacity of more than 25 thousand spectators is the most advanced in the world with all facilities. The Government of Odisha has spent a whopping Rs 149 Crore for this stadium. It has a connecting tunnel between the dressing room and the practice field, a state of the art separate fitness center, a swimming pool, and five star accommodations for the players and officials. There are 225 rooms built near the stadium complex which will provide boarding for the visitors from different countries.
Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik will also inaugurate a number of other facilities in Rourkela city. Along with the Hockey Stadium and other facilities, Naveen will inaugurate seventeen Block level Astro Turfs, DAV Water Park, Hanuman Vatika, RSP Main Gate Beautification and the Bedavyasa Beautification works, Sensory Park, Raghnathpalli Vending Zone, Panposh NAC Marke etc.
