Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik will preside over the Council of Ministers meeting to be held in the Secretariat today. The meeting is expected to discuss many issues including the aspects of the Budget for the year 2019-20. Department wise allocations in the budget will also get the nod. The council and the Cabinet are likely to approve an enhanced allocation for various departments. The schemes announced in the last few months will require an additional financial allocation. It is likely that this year the budget will rise about 10 to 12 percent than last year. In the financial year 2018-19, the government had presented the budget for Rs 1,20,028 crore. This year’s budget will be presented in the Assembly June 28 by finance minister by the Finance Minister Niranjan Pujari.
Due to the simultaneous elections to the parliament and the state legislature, the state government had presented a vote-on-account of Rs 56,921 crore on February 7, 2019.
