New Delhi: President Ram Nath Kovind today turned down the mercy petition of one of the convicts Mukesh Singh in the Nirbhaya gangrape case.
The Union Home Ministry had earlier in the day forwarded the mercy plea of convict Mukesh to the President, recommending its rejection.
Mukesh Singh, one of the four death row convicts in the 2012 Nirbhaya gangrape and murder case, had filed the mercy petition a few days back.
On Thursday,the Delhi Government has rejected the mercy plea of Mukesh.
The mercy plea was then forwarded to the Lieutenant Governor, who has now sent it to Union Ministry of Home Affairs.
