NIRF Ranking 2020: Utkal Varsity, Only State Run Institute in Odisha to Find Place in India’s Top 100 University List

Bhubaneswar: Utkal University became the only state-run institute in Odisha to find a place in India’s top 100 University ranking in University category, according to the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) rankings 2020 published today.

The varsity has ranked 96 in the ranking list scoring 40.05.

Union Minister of Human Resource Development Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank’ has released “India Rankings 2020” of Institutions of Higher Education in in 10 categories on the basis of their performance on five broad parameters.

The 10 categories include, – Overall, University, Engineering, Management,Colleges, Pharmacy, Medical, Architecture, Law and Dental.

The ranking framework evaluates institutions on five broad generic groups of parameters, i.e. Teaching, Learning and Resources (TLR), Research and Professional Practice (RP), Graduation Outcomes (GO), Outreach and Inclusivity (OI) and Perception (PR).

Ranks are assigned based on total sum of marks assigned for each of these five broad groups of parameters.

Utkal University is the oldest university of Odisha and has created a niche for itself in the realm of higher education. Known for its top quality research in science and humanities, it has produced many scholars, administrators scientists and economists of national and international repute.

Recently the university celebrated its platinum jubilee with commitment to upkeep its high tradition in education and research .

The Odisha Government has focused on infrastructure development of the university keeping in view the requirements of the time, so that it can strive to scale new heights of success The news has brought cheers to all the students and alumni of the university.

Utkal University located at the Vani Vihar is the oldest university of Odisha and 17th oldest university in India. The foundation of the campus of Utkal University at Vani Vihar was laid by Dr Rajendra Prasad, then President of India on 1st January of 1958.
