No Celebrations of `Dolayatra’ and ‘Holi’ in Public Places in Berhampur

Berhampur: As a preventive measure to contain spread of second wave of coronavirus, the Berhampur Municipal Corporation (BeMC) has banned the celebrations of `Dolayatra’ and ‘Holi’ in public places in the city this year.

The festival `Dolayatra’ and ‘Holi’ are approaching and people usually congregate and get in touch with each other to celebrate the festival and play colors during which use of face mask and physical distancing norms are not able to adhered to and such congregations have potentiality to cause spread of COVID-19 infections, the BeMC said.

All the congregation for celebration of Dolayatra and associated religious and cultural congregations shall not be allowed in public throughout Municipal Corporation area.

Further it is directed that ‘Holi’ on 28th and 29th and their related rituals shall not be observed in public place throughout BeMC area. People may celebrate ‘Holi’ with family members in their houses only and not in public places including public roads, an order issued by BeMC Commissioner Dr. Siddheswar Baliram Bandar reads.

This order will be implemented with immediate effect.
