Bhubaneswar: An Odia Jawan Ajit Sahu, who was injured in Monday’s improvised explosive device (IED) blast in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pulwama district succumbed to injuries on Tuesday, the Army said today.
Sahu, a resident of Badasuala village in Kamakhyanagar block of Dhenkanal district in Odisha, had joined the Indian Army in 2015.
“Two soldiers, brought to the hospital with severe contusions/concussions, have succumbed to their injuries while undergoing treatment in 92 Base Hospital. We deeply mourn the demise of our bravehearts,” the Army said in a statement.
According to reports, The Army Casper, a bullet and mine proof vehicle, of 44 Rashtriya Rifles was targeted by the IED explosion near Eidgah Arihal on the Arihal-Lassipora road, a police official said. Nine jawans were injured in the attack.

Reports claimed that six soldiers and two civilians were injured in the attack on Monday while the condition of three of them was stated to be critical.
This morning, a pall of gloom descended on Badasuala village after Sahu’s father reportedly received a telephone call from the Army camp bout about his son’s death.
