Odia Millennials Shinning

Graduating from the School of International and Public Affairs at Columbia University, an esteemed Ivy League Institution in the United States, in Environmental Science and Policy is an outstanding accomplishment. As the first girl from Odisha to attain this feat, Ipsita Dash has made an indelible mark.

Her journey to Columbia University was supported by the prestigious Shardashish Scholarship and SIPA Environmental Scholarship, demonstrating her academic excellence and potential.

Despite the rigorous nature of her 54-credit full time one year course, Ipsita managed to fund her stay through part time student jobs like teaching assistant in Columbia Climate School and library worker, showcasing her determination and resourcefulness.

Ipsita’s academic background is diverse and impressive. Her first master’s degree in Sustainable Environmental Design from Architectural Association, London coupled with her bachelor’s degree in Architecture from College of Engineering and Technology, Odisha speak volumes about her multifaceted skills and commitment to academic excellence. Winning a gold medal for academic excellence at the university level, in her bachelor’s degree is a further testament to that commitment.

Prior to her enrollment at Columbia University, Ipsita gained experience working in fields of environmental sustainability and climate change for a couple of years. Her last stint focused on building coastal resilience for vulnerable communities in Odisha.

Furthermore, Ipsita’s passion for writing is evident through her fiction novel titled ‘Ploughing the Mirage’ which was published in 2021. This literary work garnered recognition and accolades, including being featured in Fox Story’s list of 100 Influential Indians in 2022.
