Odisha: 25 Travelers from Corona Affected Countries Identified by State Surveillance System

Bhubaneswar: Odisha Health and Family Welfare Department today said that so far 25 travellers from Corona affected countries have been identified by the state surveillance system.

Out of that only three of symptomatic cases have been kept under observation at isolation ward of SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack, according a media bulletin released by State Surveillance Unit of Directorate of Public Health, Odisha.

Six samples were sent to the National Institute of Virology (NIV) in Pune for coronavirus testing and 5 samples have come out negative, the bulletin said.

State Control Room is functioning 24×7 and queries of people are being addressed to Control Room No. 0674-2390466, it said.

As nCoV has no definite treatment to prevention is the best. Accordingly strategy to create awareness in the community health education messages on hand washing, cough etiquette and home isolation is being disseminated through electronic, print media and radio jingles by the Health and Family Welfare Department, the bulletin added.

WHO has declared the ongoing Novel Corona virus (2019-nCoV) epidemic as Public Health Emergency of International Concern (PHEIC). So far 25 countries have been affected. In India 3 positive cases have been detected till date only from the state of Kerala with a definite history of travel.
