Odisha Aims to Generate 10 Lakh Man-days per Day under MGNREGS in Next One Week

Bhubaneswar: In a bid to generate employment opportunity to the migrant labourers, the Odisha Government has decided to create at least 10 lakh man-days per day under MGNREGS.

In a video conference with senior officers about the Corona pandemic situation in the State, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik ordered authorities concerned to generate atleast 10 lakh persondays per day under MGNREGS in next one week.

Currently, Odisha is generating 5 lakh persondays everyday under MGNREGS.

The Odisha Government is expecting huge influx of migrant labourers stranded in other State once lockdown lifted as with 48 hours of opening of registration for return a whopping 4.6 lakh of migrant labourers have already registered to return home.

In view of it, the Chief Minister also stressed on scaling up COVID-19 testing facilities in the State.
