Odisha Assembly Monsoon Session Begins Amidst Covid-19 Protocols

Bhubaneswar: The Monsoon Session of the Odisha Assembly began today amidst Covid-19 protocols. Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik moved the Condolence motion to pay tributes to former Minister late Bijayshree Routray and other senior leaders. He also paid homage to the Covid Warriors and martyrs. The Chief Minister joined the assembly proceedings virtually from Naveen Niwas. The Condolence motion was supported by all the parties. Leader of Opposition Pradipta Naik joined the proceedings from AIIMS where he is under treatment. Congress Leader Narasingha Mishra too paid his condolences to the departed leaders and corona Warriors.

The first day of the Session was stormy with the Congress party creating ruckus in the House demanding discussion on the drought like situation in the state. Congress leaders stored to the well of the house and disturbed the proceeding s which prompted the Speaker Surjya Narayan Patro to adjourn the house till 12.34 pm.

The eight day Monsoon Session will continue till 9th September and about 12 bills are expected to be passed during the session.
