Puri: In a significant development, the Odisha Cabinet today approved the much-awaited ABADHA (Augmentation of Basic Amenities and Development of Heritage and Architecture) Yojana to develop Puri into World Heritage City.
The Cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik here this evening gave approval to the scheme, under which, the State Government will spend Rs 3208 crore in next three years to give the pilgrim city a whole new face.
The cabinet has approved 15 major projects including development of a Heritage Security Zone, Setu project, projects for displaced people, Jagannath Ballav pilgrim centre and renovation of Musa river.
Other projects include construction of a multi-level parking space on jail road, setting of model complex, renovation of municipality market and construction of centre for Jagannath Culture Research.
The plans for Puri have been prepared as per the recommendations of Temple Reforms Commission.
Besides, proposal for bringing 19 educational complexes meant for PVTGs under the Administrative control of ST & SC Development Department at par with educational establishments.
