Odisha: Civil Supply Officer Arrested in Vigilance Case

Bhubaneswar: A civil supply officer in Malkangiri district was arrested today in vigilance case.

On receipt of reliable information regarding collection of huge cash by  Abhimanyu Mahanty, CSO, Malkangiri as illegal gratification, the officers of Koraput Vigilance Division kept a watch over the movement and activity of Sri Mahanty, sources said.

Accordingly, while he was proceeding towards his native place, Berhampur in a Toyato Innova Car bearing regd. No- OD02-AC-6471, Vigilance officers of Koraput Division intercepted him on 17.8.19 at 12.40 PM at Boipariguda in between Malkangiri-Jeypore Road.

During his personal search as well as search of the car, he was found in possession of cash of Rupees One Lakh Ninety One Thousand One Hundred Forty including cash of Rs. 1,79,140 found from his hand bag and cash of Rs.  12,000 from his personal search which he could not account for satisfactorily.

Following interception, Koraput Vigilance PS Case No -20 dt. 17.8.19 U/s 13(2)r/w 13(1)(b) P. C. Act, 1988 as ammended by PC (Ammendment) Act, 2018 has been registered.

Accused Sri Mohanty, CSO has been arrested and forwarded to the Court on 18.8.19. He has been remanded to the judicial custody till 27.8.19.

Investigation of the case is in progress.
