Odisha Govt Extends Rebate Period for Property Tax Payment

Bhubaneswar: In view of the prevailing COVID-19 pandemic situation, the Odisha Government has extended the rebate period for payment of holding/property tax till August 31 this year.

This has been informed by the Housing and Urban Development (H&UD) Department.

The citizens living in the urban areas in the Municipal Corporations, Municipalities & NACs can now avail the benefit of rebate in the payment of holding tax/property tax till 31st August 2020, the Department said.

The normal period of rebate which is up to May is now extended up to 31st August 2020, it added.

The State Government has offered a 5 per cent rebate on advance payment of the annual holding tax.

The rebate will be provided if the annual holding tax for 2020-21 is paid in advance on or before August 31, 2020, a notification stated.

The rebate will be provided under Section 257 of the Odisha Municipal Corporation (OMC) Act, 2003.
