Odisha Govt Gives Nod to Renewal of Health Insurance Scheme for Scribes

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Government today gave its approval to the renewal of health insurance scheme for working journalists known as “Gopabandhu Sambadika Swasthya Bima Yojana”.

New Information and Public Relations Minister Raghunandan Das approved the renewal of the Health Insurance Scheme as part of his first official work, sources said.

Notably, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik had launched the health insurance scheme for the working journalists in June last year.

This scheme provides Rs. 2 Lakh per annum health insurance cover to all working journalists of the state.  Five members of the journalists family is being covered under the scheme.

The insurance coverage is applicable for cashless treatment in government and private hospitals. The scheme also covers the injuries and illness faced by journalists while performing their duties.

In the first phase, as many as 3,233 working journalists got health insurance coverage.
