Odisha Govt Increases Average Ration Cost for Mid-Day Meal Programme

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Government today revised the cooking cost under the Mid-Day Meal programme for the year 2020-21, increasing the ration cost for the MDM programme for the primary and upper primary school students.

The average ration cost for primary students has been increased Rs 4.93 to Rs 5.42 and from Rs 7.36 to Rs 8.10 for upper primary students. The revised cost is effective from April 1.

The School and Mass Education department has informed all district Collectors about the revised costs through a letter.

“The day to day expenditure is to be made on the prevailing market price, availability of seasonable vegetables, keeping the average unit cost of expenditure to Rs 5.42 for primary students and Rs 8.10 for upper primary students. Hence the management authority will have the flexibility over the items and ingredients of Mid-Day Meal expenditure subject to the condition that the average unit cost is not exceeded”, the letter said.
