Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Government is planning to auction 40 mining blocks in the current fiscal year, Steel & Mines Minister Prafulla Kumar Mallik told the Assembly on Monday.
In reply to a question in the House, the Minister said that 16 new mining blocks and 24 functional mines with their leases expiring by March 31, 2020 are ready for auction.
Revenue earned from the mining blocks can be calculated only after completion of the auction process, he further stated.
Odisha had despatched 310.08 million tonnes of ores against production of 295.45 million tonnes in 2018-19, the Assembly was informed earlier.
The revenue collection from the mining sector has increased impressively collecting Rs 10,479.18 crore against a target of Rs 7,100 crore in the last fiscal.
Odisha had registered revenue growth from Rs 5,310 crore in 2014-15 to Rs 10,479.18 crore in the last fiscal.
