Bhubaneswar: With an aim to sensitize the students on road safety, the Odisha Government has decided to include a subject on road safety in school syllabus from next academic session.
As per the move, the road safety will be part of the curriculum from the academic session 2020-21 for the Class-X students to provide them education about traffic rules.
The decision was taken at a high level meeting chaired by Commerce & Transport Secretary Pramod Meherda at Kharavela Bhawan here today.
The syllabus will have a special chapter teaching the students the rules for driving the vehicles on city roads and the cautions to be followed during driving.
The students will also be made aware of the traffic rules under New Motor Vehicles Act.
Apart from this, steps will be taken by the school authorities prohibiting the students from riding the two-wheelers while coming to schools.
