Odisha House Committee Demands Rs 7200cr Allocation for Railways in State

New Delhi: The House Committee of the Odisha Legislative Assembly led by Speaker Surjya Narayan Patro met Railways Minister Piyush Goyal at Rail Bhavan on Tuesday evening and submitted a memorandum demanding allocation of over Rs 7,200 crore for  2020-21 budget for various railway projects in the state.

The committee also expressed concern over reduction in budgetary allocation for railway projects in the state and sought modernisation of at least 11 railway stations, including Bhubaneswar railway station.

Besides, the committee also demanded introduction of 23 express/superfast trains, 13 intercity express trains, eight passenger trains, extension of trains in 26 routes and introduction of MEMU/DEMU services in seven stations.
