Odisha Is One of Best Indian States for Business: Top Industry Leaders at MIO Conclave 2022 

Bhubaneswar: Odisha is one of the best Indian states for business, expressed top industry leaders at the Make in Odisha (MIO) Conclave, 2022, the flagship investor summit of Odisha.

During the Plenary session of the third edition of this marquee event, some of the country’s most prolific business leaders, such as Lakshmi Mittal, Chairman, ArcelorMittal; Anil Agarwal, Founder Chairman, Vedanta Resources; Sajjan Jindal, Chairman, JSW Group; Naveen Jindal, Chairman, Jindal Steel & Power; T V Narendran, CEO, Tata Steel; Vineet Mittal, Chairman, Avaada Energy and Karan Adani, CEO, Adani Ports & SEZ Limited shared their views why Odisha is one of the best Indian states for business.

“With one of the largest R&D centres in India, we are looking forward to bringing these technologies to Odisha for future sustainability and climate change by creating value via steel plants in the state,” Lakshmi Mittal, Chairman, ArcelorMittal.

Vedanta Resources Founder Chairman Anil Agarwal expressed that under the guidance of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, all the resources required to set up aluminum industries in the state are readily available, enabling progress in automobile, construction and aerospace sectors.

“We were amongst the first ones to tap in to the mines of Odisha and utilize the mineral resources. With a current mineral revenue of Rs. 10,000 – 40,000 cr, we are sure that Odisha will soon be a trillion-dollar economy”, expressed Sajjan Jindal, Chairman, JSW Group at the conclave.

Naveen Jindal, Chairman, Jindal Steel & Power, said, “We at Jindal Steel are toiling day and night to make the Odisha and India of our dreams. Setting up a steel plant, while not an easy task, has now become a reality with the government’s support.”

Lauding Odisha’s business friendly policies, T V Narendran, CEO, Tata Steel said, “Our association dates back to 100+ years with over 50,000 employees and an investment of 75000 crores in the last few years. Business friendly policies and an empowered group of bureaucrats makes Odisha one of the best states for business.”

Avaada Energy Chairman Vineet Mittal said that his company has decided to invest billions of dollars in Odisha to set up green energy plants to decarbonize India.

“We’re pleased to share that Avaada has decided to invest billions of dollars in Odisha to set up green energy plants to decarbonize India. We believe that Odisha has the potential to become a global green energy hub,” he said.

Karan Adani, CEO, Adani Ports & SEZ Limited said that his capex in Odisha over the next 10 years will cross Rs 60,000 crore.

Adani Ports’ plans for 35 berths and a 5MT LNG terminal at Dhamra Port, an alumina refinery, and an iron ore project will create thousands of jobs, he added.
