Bhubaneswar: Odisha Mo Parivar, the social service wing of ruling Biju Janata Dal, has rescued four youths stranded in Dubai.
The youths are from Odisha’s Jajpur district.
Following the instructions of BJD supremo and Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, the members of Odisha Mo Parivar made two months of constant efforts to ensure safe return of youths to their home state.
The youths reached Odisha Mo Parivar office here on Tuesday from Kolkata by train and were received by the members of Odisha Mo Parivar.
Convenor of Odisha Mo Parivar Arup Patnaik, co-convenor Atanu Sabyasachi Nayak and members of Odisha Mo Parivar – Gopabandhu Dash, Officer on Special Duty to Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, bureaucrat Rabindra Sethi and Odisha Mo Parivar advisor Vivekanand Patnaik welcomed the youths.
Earlier, Odisha Mo Parivar arranged the accommodation of youths at Utkal Bhawan, Kolkata after their arrival to the city from Dubai.
The seven youths were sent to Dubai by a local agent with false promise of jobs. The youths were allegedly tortured in Dubai. Three of them were rescued by Odisha Mo Parivar.
However, the rescue of rest four got delayed due to legal issues. It was resolved with the timely intervention of Odisha Mo Parivar and the youths returned to Odisha.
Notably, the plights of the youths came to light when a local journalist of Jajpur informed Odisha-Mo Parivar Co-convener Atanu Sabyasachi Nayak about the youths stranded in Dubai and were being exploited by the employer.
After consulting with the family members of the stranded people, a case was filed at the Bari police station and on 6th December 2019, the agent who sent them was arrested.
The resident commissioner of Odisha Ravikant was also intimated about the incident and was asked to take immediate steps. With the active involvement of the Resident Commissioner and the External Affairs Ministry, all stranded persons were brought back to India safely on 28th December 2019.
