Odisha: Officials Asked to Make Field Visits to Assess Agriculture Activities
Bhubaneswar: As agricultural activities are expected to pick up with onset of monsoon soon, the Odisha Government today asked the officials to make field visits to assess the farm activities in the ensuing khaif seaon, which has started from Akshaya Tritiya.
As many as 10 senior officers of the Agriculture Department will be visiting different districts to gather data on 18 major areas such as weather condition, supply of quality seeds, fertilizers, pesticides to the farmers.
The officials will also monitor the implementation of various government schemes and programmes including the KALIA meant for the development of the farmers and farm sector in the State, sources said.
The officials have also been asked to create awareness among the farmers on the schemes and discuss with them for the proper implementation.
The officials will also give a report of their findings to the State Government by June 22.
The decision was taken at the high level review meeting held on Monday at Krushi Bhawan under the chairmanship of Agriculture Minister Dr. Arun Kumar Sahoo to invigorate the agriculture sector in the State, said an official.
