Bhubaneswar: More than 26,000 persons were arrested during night patrolling in Odisha in the past three years, told a Minister to the Assembly on Monday.
As many as 26,687 persons were arrested during night patrolling in the State from 2017 to 2019, said Minister of State for Home Dibya Shankar Mishra.
A total of 736 vehicles which includes four-wheelers and two-wheelers; 3,485 police personnel, 4,991 home guards have been deployed for the purpose, the Minister stated in a written reply to the Assembly.
Besides, 521 supervising officers have been given responsibility to oversee the work of the police personnel and home guards, he said.
The Odisha Government has approved the introduction of highway patrolling on four national highways (NHs) and one state highway (SH) to reduce accidents and curb crime, he further stated.
