Odisha: Passengers Association Demands Resumption of More Rail Services and Issuance of MST

Bhubaneswar/Berhampur/Chatrapur: The train passengers association today demanded resumption of more rail services and issuance of monthly seasonal ticket (MST) under East Coast Railway Division.

The members of Federation of Daily Train Passengers Association staged peaceful protests at different railway stations, including Bhubaneswar, Cuttack, Berhampur, Chatrapur, Khalikote, Balugaon and Khordha Road, for the fulfillment of their three demands.

The demands are issuance of monthly or quarterly seasonal ticket, running of more passenger trains and reduction of ticket fare to pre-COVID period.

The Federation of Daily Train Passengers Association wrote a letter to the Union Railways Minister Ashwani Vaishnav in this regard.

The association has highlighted the plights of the daily train passengers travelling regularly from Berhampur to Chatrapur/Khalikote/Balugaon/Khordha road / Bhubaneswar/Cuttack etc for years round.

Due to outbreak of COVID-19, all the passenger trains under East Coast Railway Division have been suspended except one train that runs daily as Covid special train 08434( Palasa-Bhubaneswar) and 08433(Bhubaneswar-Palasa) respectively with excessive fare cost of the train ticket, it said.
